Comprendes, Mendes? opened in 2026 on the first floor above Undisclosed Location in SS4, Petaling Jaya. Owner Mervin Chin says he started it after growing tired of bad tacos, and he spent around five months perfecting the corn tortilla. The masa is hand-pressed daily, and achiote, hominy and ancho chillies are sourced from Mexico. The room seats only about 20 and can be booked whole for private events.
The menu is short and pork-led. Tacos carnitas use pork slow-cooked for about four hours in its own fat, with salsa verde and salsa negra. Tacos pastor pair achiote-marinated pork shoulder with grilled pineapple. Cochinita pibil comes with pickled red onion and habanero salsa. Each filling also comes as a burrito bowl with cilantro rice and guacamole. Pozole rojo de cerdo is served with corn tortillas, and tequila and mezcal are on hand.
It suits anyone after traditional Mexican tacos rather than fusion. It opens only Friday to Sunday evenings and is not halal. Dishes from Undisclosed Location downstairs can be sent up.
