Gringo's began in 2014 as a food truck run by a group of friends led by lawyer Azhan Benny Foo, who set out to popularise Tex-Mex in Malaysia. After years parked in TTDI, a pandemic spell of delivery and a short stint in Langkawi, the team opened a restaurant in August 2022 on the first floor of a shop row on Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi. Neon signs and a wall charting the brand's journey set the tone.
Birria tacos are the dish diners mention most, followed by a crisp chimichanga and the sharing platter. Chicken nachos and fish tacos are good-value choices, and the menu also covers stuffed tacos, burritos, quesadillas and buffalo wings. Spice is graded by level; reviewers suggest level 1 for a milder meal.
It suits a relaxed, inexpensive dinner with friends in TTDI and is open daily from noon. Orders and enquiries go through WhatsApp, and the team also caters events from its food-truck days.
