La Chica Mexican Grill

La Chica is The Olive Tree Group's casual Mexican cocina and bar, launched in 2021 on Changkat Bukit Bintang. The Bangsar outlet opened in October 2023 in a row of shop houses on Jalan Bangkung, decorated with murals by local artists, hanging flowers, rattan lanterns and cane chairs, with a pet-friendly veranda.

Start with tortilla chips and house salsa, then order tacos, hard or soft shell, such as beef brisket aguacate, fish with habanero honey or marinated prawns with olives. A newer birria series comes with lamb, oxtail, chicken or beef brisket. Gambas al ajillo, lamb albóndigas, chicken fajitas and the chicken and mushroom quesadilla are reliable choices from the larger plates. The bar is built around tequila and margaritas, including slushies and the Quatrorita, a flight of four.

It suits groups and casual celebrations, with promotions such as Tuesday free-flow tacos and margaritas (RM49++ each) and weekend grill sessions. Bookings are by WhatsApp. Other La Chica outlets are on Changkat Bukit Bintang and at Jaya One in Petaling Jaya, with further branches at Straits Quay in Penang and in Kota Kinabalu.
