Cha Cha Cha opened on Lorong Mambong in 1990 and has stayed at the same Holland Village address ever since, which makes it one of Singapore's longest-running Mexican restaurants. The shophouse is painted in greens, oranges and yellows, with a neon sign outside and a handful of street-side tables that fill up as the evening goes on.
The cooking is straightforward Tex-Mex. The chimichanga, a deep-fried tortilla stuffed with pulled pork or shredded beef and topped with sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo, is the dish regulars return for. Tequila honey wings, sopa de mariscos, nachos with melted cheese and jalapeños, fish tacos in flour tortillas and sizzling fajitas fill out the menu, and churros finish the meal.
It suits casual dinners and catch-ups over drinks. Margaritas are cheaper during the long happy hour, which runs into the evening on most days. Prices are among the lowest of Singapore's sit-down Mexican restaurants, and portions are generous. There is no published booking system, so expect to walk in.
