Chimichanga opened in Little India in 2016 with a style it calls Sing-Mex: Mexican dishes adjusted for the Singapore palate. The Holland Village branch sits in Holland Piazza with a bright terrace, a long bar and neon touches, and it is one of the group's busiest outlets, with a happy hour until 7pm and a members' price scheme.
The namesake chimichanga is a deep-fried flour tortilla wrapped round amarillo rice and cheese, filled with shredded ancho beef, chipotle chicken or spiced jackfruit. Tacos come in pairs: seared camarones with mango salsa, borracho fish battered in the group's own Hoppy Donkey IPA, and carne asada skirt steak. Elote corn ribs and loaded nachos work for sharing, there are Wagyu hanging tender and adobo lamb cutlets for bigger appetites, and golden churros to finish. Margaritas come by the glass, litre or 1.6-litre tower.
It suits after-work groups and casual celebrations, with bookings through the group's website. Other Chimichanga outlets are at Raffles City, VivoCity in HarbourFront and PLQ Mall in Paya Lebar; sister brand Chimi's runs separately.
