Sanchos Taqueria is the casual, mall-friendly offshoot of the Sanchos Mexican Bar and Grill name, run by Katrina Group and tucked into the basement of Paragon on Orchard Road. The room is bright and busy at lunch, with brick walls lit by cactus silhouettes, a neon cactus and tiled floors. It opens at 10am, so it works for a late breakfast as well as lunch and dinner.
The menu sticks to approachable Tex-Mex. Order the Bang Bang prawn tacos with chipotle mayo, the Baja fish tacos or the pulled beef torta, and try the pambazo, a chilli-dipped sandwich of crispy bread and filling. The taco minestrone, a hearty soup of beans and vegetables in tomato broth, is a house signature, and there are enchiladas, smashed quesadillas, burrito bowls and churros.
It suits families, shoppers and office workers who want halal Mexican food in the heart of Orchard. The menu carries the MUIS halal logo, so there is no pork, and portions are generous for the price. Walk-ins are the norm, though tables can be booked through Chope.
