Lucha Loco sits on Duxton Hill, a quiet green lane off Tanjong Pagar, and is run by the Super Loco Group, which also owns Super Loco and Chico Loco. A recent refit took its design cues from the Mayan architecture of Tulum, with a wood-furnished dining room, a long bar and a terrace that fills up on weekend nights.
Tacos start at around S$10 and come with fillings such as Baja-style fried fish, prawns, slow-braised lamb, pork chorizo and smoked brisket. The crab tostada with pickled jalapeño is a regular recommendation, as are the charred elote, the cochinita pibil and the hibiscus and jackfruit quesadilla. Finish with the blue corn cake and vanilla ice cream. The bar holds a broad collection of mezcals and builds its cocktail list around them; El Loco Hour (daily, 3pm–7pm) brings frozen margaritas, beers and house pours down to S$10.
It suits dates, after-work groups and anyone who wants mezcal with dinner. Book through SevenRooms for weekend evenings; reservations carry a two-hour dining limit. It is closed on Sundays.
