La Cantina sits on the beach side of Bophut's Fisherman's Village, at the quieter end of the strip, with open-sided tables looking out to sea. It bills itself as the village's Mexican spot and keeps long hours, from late morning until 1am every day.
The kitchen leans Tex-Mex: tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas and fajitas with chicken, beef or vegetarian fillings, plus guacamole and salsas. Reviewers describe the pulled beef tacos as huge and juicy. There is also a grill side, with a 300g ribeye, rotisserie chicken and a mixed grill board of steak skewers, ribs and half a chicken for sharing. Margaritas, mojitos, sangria, tequila and cold beer cover the bar.
It works for a sunset drink that turns into dinner, or a late bite after the Friday walking street market. Service gets mixed comments in recent reviews, so allow time at busy periods. Bookings and enquiries go through its Facebook page or by phone.
