Amore Mexican Tapas & Bar

Amore is a small, colourful Mexican tapas bar on Phang Nga Road in Phuket Old Town, a short walk from the museum and the old-town crossroads. Strong air-conditioning, good music and a relaxed pace make it a handy escape from the afternoon heat, and it opens from noon for a late lunch.

The menu sticks to Mexican and Tex-Mex staples: chicken nachos, shrimp, chicken or beef quesadillas, tacos with steak, pork, shrimp or refried beans, enchiladas, burritos, chilli con carne and a beef chimichanga, with sizzling prawn fajitas for something bigger. You can choose corn or wheat tortillas, and there are vegetarian and gluten-free dishes such as stuffed sweet peppers. Margaritas and mojitos are well made, and the cocktails for two are generous.

Good for a casual meal while exploring the old town. Seating is limited, so expect a short wait at peak times. Diners often receive a complimentary dessert such as panna cotta or crème brûlée. Closed on Wednesdays.
