Mamasita was opened in 2016 by owners who had spent more than a decade living in Mexico and missed its food once they moved to Asia. It sits on Lagoon Road at the entrance to the Laguna area of Bang Tao, a small, colourful cantina-style room with sombreros and folk art.
The menu covers tacos, burritos, fajitas, enchiladas and quesadillas with house salsas. Fillings include Australian sirloin, pork carnitas, al pastor with pineapple, grilled chicken and spicy shrimp diabla, and enchiladas can come as an enmolada in mole sauce. Tortilla soup and mushrooms with tequila are other regulars, and the margarita is the house drink, with a weekly Margarita Monday.
Fair prices and an easy-going welcome make it a regular stop for families and long-stay visitors around Laguna. Book by WhatsApp; GrabFood delivery is available. The same team runs Taco Loco, a pork-free sister restaurant at Porto de Phuket.
