Pachanga is on the ground floor of North Plaza in Discovery Bay, the car-free residential town on Lantau Island, a short ferry ride from Central. Foodie calls it Discovery Bay's main source of Mexican food, and describes a relaxed room that is both family- and pet-friendly, which suits the neighbourhood around it.
The kitchen prepares its food in-house each day. Foodie points to the lamb barbacoa tacos, the birria quesatacos with consommé for dipping, elote with avocado, tuna aguachile and grilled chicken with chimichurri, with champurrado ice cream, made with Mexican chocolate and coconut, to finish. Vegetarian and vegan dishes sit alongside the meat, and there is a list of cocktails and other drinks.
It suits an easy family dinner or a weekend lunch without crossing to Hong Kong Island. Tacos cost HK$168 to HK$188 a plate and the chimichurri chicken HK$228. It opens daily from noon to 10pm, and from 10am at weekends. Book through Bistrochat or by WhatsApp. Halal status has not been confirmed, so ask if it matters to you.
