Motel Mexicola opened on Jl. Kayu Jati in 2013 and is the first and largest venue of the Mexicola Group, seating up to 400. The interior is loud by design: neon shrines, geometric tiles, vintage curios and religious kitsch inspired by 1960s Acapulco and the streets of Mexico City. Lunch is calm, but late in the evening the tables turn into dance floors.
The taqueria presses its corn tortillas to order from imported masa. Order al pastor tacos with achiote pork belly and pineapple, crisp birria de res dorado tacos with consommé, or Baja fish tacos. Aguachile mixto brings lime-cured snapper, calamari, prawn and octopus, and the chorizo quesadilla is a regular favourite. For larger plates there is chamorro de borrego (braised lamb shank) and pancita guisada, and churros with chocolate and caramel to finish. The bar pours margaritas made with 100% blue agave tequila and a long list of tequilas and mezcals.
It suits birthdays, groups and anyone who wants dinner that turns into a party, and the 'Feed Me' menu takes the decisions out of ordering. Book ahead for evenings. Sister venues are in Canggu (Batu Bolong) and Uluwatu (Bingin), which opened in July 2026.
