Tacos Aqui Umalas

Tacos Aqui opened on Jalan Bumbak in Umalas in late 2019, and the name says it all: aquí means here, and the idea was simply that this neighbourhood needed tacos. The Umalas shop is the original and the smaller of the two, a pink-fronted taqueria with a terrace of red stools that runs from lunch until late.

Tortillas and salsas are made in-house. The birria taco with braised short rib, melted cheese and consommé is the one regulars order, alongside al pastor with pineapple, slow-braised barbacoa beef and battered barramundi. There is queso fundido with a savoury churro to start, build-your-own burritos, bowls and quesadillas, chicken fajitas, and margaritas with a daily 4pm–7pm happy hour.

It suits casual lunches, groups and anyone after good-value tacos in the Canggu–Umalas area. Taco Tuesdays and Thursdays bring Rp35k tacos, with live music on Tuesday evenings; group packages are available. The second, larger Tacos Aqui is on Jalan Labuansait in Uluwatu, with the Club Corazón bar behind it.
