Taco Casa has been flying the flag for Mexican food in Bali for well over a decade, and Honeycombers credits it with starting the island's taco and tequila craze. The Ubud branch sits on Jalan Raya Pengosekan, south of the town centre: a casual, easy-going room that opens at 10am and keeps the kitchen going until 10pm every day.
The kitchen makes its salsas, guacamole and hand-pressed tortillas in small batches each day. Order the cheesy enchiladas in red sauce, carne asada nachos or the taco salad bowl served in a crisp tortilla shell, or go big with the 8-inch Super Taco. Burritos and quesadillas come with your choice of filling and spice level, and hot salsas are served on the side.
Because almost everything can be adjusted, it suits families and fussy eaters, and prices stay modest at roughly IDR 75,000–200,000 a head. It works well for a relaxed lunch between Ubud sightseeing stops. Taco Casa also has a branch on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak.
