Cacho's Bingin is a casual Mexican restaurant on Jalan Pantai Bingin, the lane that leads down to one of the Bukit's best-known surf breaks. The sign carries the house motto, 'people in a rush still not allowed', and the space is colourful, with a bar and a pool table downstairs. Chope pitches it at surfers, families and anyone after a relaxed dinner.
The Mexican classics come with rice, beans, Mex potatoes, salad, salsa and guacamole. Choose tacos, a burrito or a deep-fried chimichanga, then pick chicken, mahi-mahi, Australian beef, prawns or veg. Enchiladas are finished in the oven with a smoky chilli sauce, and fajitas come with four flour tortillas. The Baja fish tacos use beer-battered mahi-mahi with cilantro cream coleslaw. Margaritas come by the glass or pitcher, including spicy, pandan and frozen mango.
The menu also has burgers, pizza and grilled meats, so mixed groups are covered, and there is a short kids' list. Chope does not take bookings, so call ahead. It opens daily from late afternoon.
