The south of Bali splits into two quite different scenes: the surf-break cliffs around Uluwatu and Bingin, and the calmer, family-friendly beach town of Sanur on the east coast. Both have Mexican places that are casual and good value.
In Uluwatu, Lola's Cantina Mexicana is a loud cantina with hand-pressed tortillas, over 40 tequilas and mezcals and Friday DJ parties. Its sister venue Lolita's Cantina Mexicana sits on the cliff above Suluban, serving open-fire seafood with views over the Racetracks break. Cacho's Bingin is a laid-back cantina on the road down to Bingin beach. In Sanur, Taqisa is a family-run taco shop using generations-old recipes, and Jalapeño, open since 2014, makes fresh masa tortillas and salsas daily.
Go to Lolita's around sunset for the views. Distances between Uluwatu and Sanur are long, so do not plan both in one evening. None of these places is halal.
