Jalapeño has served modern Tex-Mex in Bali since 2014, and its Sanur original sits on Jalan Danau Tamblingan. The design takes its cue from the desert landscape of the Mexican border, with cacti, leather banquettes and warm wood. The kitchen is open from noon to 10pm daily.
Tacos are sold by the piece on flour or fresh masa tortillas. Fillings include carne asada, twice-cooked pork carnitas, adobo chicken, Baja mahi-mahi and a jackfruit 'carnitas' for vegetarians. Start with charred corn, guacamole or the vegan cashew queso, then move on to enchiladas in ranchero sauce, loaded nachos or a burrito. The bar focuses on tequila-based cocktails, and recent diners single out the drinks.
Tacos cost IDR 30,000–45,000 each, so a full meal stays good value. It suits groups who want to share plates over cocktails, and the vegetarian and vegan options are well marked. A second Jalapeño operates in Canggu, on Jalan Raya Semat.
