Bugis and Kampong Glam are where Singapore's casual taco scene is at its liveliest. Seah Street, North Bridge Road and the edge of Haji Lane hold small taquerias and loud cantinas that draw a young crowd, especially in the evenings.
Papi's Tacos on Seah Street is the original branch of chef Mauricio Espinoza's taqueria, with smoked meats and frozen margaritas. Across the road, Rodeo Table is a cowboy-themed Tex-Mex bar in the basement of the Mint Museum of Toys. Huevos on North Bridge Road is a lucha libre-themed taqueria with regular queues. La Birria Tacos, a small Muslim-owned spot nearby, serves quesa birria tacos with consommé. Piedra Negra, on the corner of Haji Lane, offers tableside guacamole and cheap frozen margaritas.
Bugis MRT is the nearest station. Expect queues at Huevos at busy times. La Birria Tacos is Muslim-owned but its halal status is not confirmed, so check directly if that matters to you.
