Lombok's Mexican food is concentrated in Kuta, the surf town on the island's south coast. The scene is small, and both places listed here are relaxed, inexpensive and in easy reach of the beach road.
Cantina Mexicana on Jalan Raya Kuta is a colourful backyard cantina from the Satu Lagi team, serving street-food tacos such as chicken and chorizo or birria, elote and family-size nachos, with Baja-style cocktails and Latin music nights. La Cuna, on Jalan Pariwisata Pantai Kuta, is the town's long-running Mexican, formerly The Mexican in Town, and now a candlelit courtyard serving tuna tataki and Baja fish tacos, jackfruit burritos and margaritas.
Both are casual, so a meal costs under US$25 a head before drinks. Kuta is compact and most visitors get about by scooter. Halal status has not been confirmed for either, so ask directly if it matters to you.
