Mexican Eat Where

Sukhumvit & Ploenchit

Sukhumvit and Ploenchit hold most of Bangkok's Mexican restaurants, from food-hall counters to agave lounges. The area suits after-work drinks, group dinners and late nights.

El Santo on Soi 29 is lucha libre-themed, with Oaxacan cooking and over 65 tequilas and mezcals. Molino on Soi 11 grinds its own tortillas and serves birria late. Catrika at the Valia Hotel makes its own mole. Rodeo Mex-Tex on Soi 20 is a grill and tap house. Charley Brown's Mexicana on Soi 19 dates from 1992. Danzante off Soi 61 cooks chiles rellenos. The Missing Burro in Thonglor is Mexican-run. Tacos & Salsa in On Nut is known for fried fish tacos. Taqueria La Nena at theCOMMONS sells taco sets. On Ploenchit, La Monita has been open since 2009 and Santiaga, above Billy's Smokehouse, cooks over wood and serves mezcal.

Most of these places are a short walk from a station on the BTS Sukhumvit line. Book ahead for Friday and Saturday evenings at El Santo, Molino and Santiaga, and allow for slow traffic on Sukhumvit Road at rush hour.
