Casual covers Mexican places where you can eat well for under US$25 a head before drinks. It is the largest band in the guide and includes taquerias, burrito bars, food-hall counters and neighbourhood cantinas.

In Singapore, Huevos on North Bridge Road draws queues for tacos and nachos, and Sanchos Taqueria in Paragon is halal-certified. Bored Tacos in Joo Chiat is pork-free. In Jakarta, Cantinero serves street tacos until 4am at weekends. Bali options include Tacos Aqui Umalas, with birria on house-made tortillas, and Lola's Cantina Mexicana in Uluwatu. Bangkok has The Missing Burro in Thonglor, La Monita Taqueria on Ploenchit, open since 2009, and Cholos on Charoen Krung. In Kuala Lumpur, Los Tacos in Taman Paramount is known for quesabirria.

Many casual places do not take bookings, so expect to queue at peak times or go early. Several run Taco Tuesday deals or happy hours. Check opening hours before you go, as smaller spots may close on one weekday.
