Restaurant & Bar lists Mexican venues where the bar matters as much as the kitchen, from mezcal-focused cantinas to tequila lounges and late-night taquerias. Expect agave lists, margaritas and, in many cases, happy hours.

Lucha Loco on Duxton Hill builds its cocktails around a large mezcal collection, and Poczarica at CHIJMES pours a long list of premium tequilas. Cantinero in Jakarta stays open until 4am at weekends. In Bali, Motel Mexicola has a long agave list and Lola's Cantina Mexicana in Uluwatu stocks over 40 tequilas and mezcals. El Santo on Sukhumvit 29 has more than 65, and La Lupita on Silom serves margaritas until 2am. Undisclosed Location in Kuala Lumpur backs its tacos with a large tequila and mezcal list, and El Taquero in Wan Chai has a long one too.

Book ahead for Friday and Saturday evenings, when these venues are busiest. Drinks can cost more than the food, so check happy-hour times, and arrange a ride home rather than driving.
